If you are graduating from Lancaster University in July 2025, we've got some good news. Runner Duck will be open every day from 2pm, Monday 14th - Friday 18th July, for all your wine and cheese needs.

Whether you want to join us for some celebratory drinks after the Lancaster graduation ceremony, tuck into a well-deserved cheeseboard, or need recommendations for things to do in Lancaster for your loved ones who have come to visit for the occasion, you can book a table with us.

Venue Hire in Lancaster

Runner Duck is available for private hire for parties and events. We are only a little venue, best suited to groups of 20 - 30 people. We can provide party-friendly versions of our deli boards, an in-house sound system to accommodate either a DJ or your own playlists, and a fully stocked bar. The only thing we don’t have is draught beer, so if that’s something that’s important to you and your guests then we’re probably not the venue for you (although we do have some delicious, canned beer from Farm Yard Ales).

How Much Does It Cost to Hire Runner Duck?

We don’t charge for daytime venue hire (event ends before 5pm). All we ask for is a £50 pre-payment that will be deducted from your final bill.

For evening events (starting or running after 5pm) a minimum spend will apply. This minimum spend will vary and is there to ensure we don’t lose out by closing to the public. In very exceptional circumstances, we will consider hiring out the venue on Friday and Saturday nights, however, please be aware than the costs involved in this will be considerably higher than other days of the week.

We calculate the minimum spend on a case by case basis. The best thing to do is contact us in you’re looking for venue hire in Lancaster, give us as much information about what you’re looking for, and we’ll come back to you with an honest, realistic answer.
